first_imgWe’re coming back to the East Coast! Colorado was a whirlwind filled with backpacking, peak bagging, and a whole lot of van living. Our favorite things about Colorado include dry air, chilly mornings, and green chili. Our least favorite things are unwavering afternoon showers, cactus, and the temperature of the high alpines lakes (cold, too cold). We’re looking forward to fall colors, carving van pumpkins, and drying gourds on the dashboard– here we come east coast fall! Check of some of the gear that keeps us groovin’ in this month’s Gear on the Go!Colorado 14er Booklet (North & South) by National Geographic MapsIt’s written in stone somewhere high in the Colorado Rockies that you’re not truly a Citizen of the Centennial State until you climb a 14er. For those unfamiliar, a 14er is a mountain who’s summit reaches to at least 14,oooft above sea level. In Colorado there are 58 14ers (the actual number is highly debated in Colorado, but that’s a story for another day). Nat Geo Maps, breaking somewhat from their traditional fold-out maps, has released a set of two booklets that contain maps for the standard routes of all 58 Colorado 14ers. The booklet style maps are great because you only have to invest in one set to have maps for all of the mountains. For us, the information packed, super-convenient layout is the best part. Can we camp at the trailhead? How many miles? What’s the elevation gain? Where are the water sources? Do I need four wheel drive to make it to the trailhead? All of these questions are now easily answered in one waterproof, tear resistant booklet.La Sportiva Men’s Chrono ShirtThe Chrono Shirt by La Sportiva is by far the best technical shirt that I (Ben) own, and honestly, it’s not even close. The Chrono is a super light weight and breathable, making it the perfect shirt to take on a four day backpacking trip when you know you’ll be cooking up a stink all weekend long. La Sportiva uses Polygiene® anti-odor and anti-bacterial treatment on this shirt and whatever it is, it works. If I’m in the backcountry for less than a week, I will only bring one shirt, the Chrono. It is made from 100% polyester micro-ripstop and drys crazy fast. If my shirt is dry, I’m ready to go for another week!Lifestraw Go with 2-Stage FiltrationFirst let us say that we are HUGE Lifestraw fans. With their Follow the Liters program, for every LifeStraw product sold, a child in a developing country receives clean, safe drinking water for an entire school year. That in itself makes us love them as a brand, but their water filters are also top notch. We hate lugging in a bunch of water with us no matter what physical activity we do. We’d much rather filter ice cold mountain water as we need it. The Lifestraw Go with 2-Stage Filtration allows us to do just that. The Lifestraw GO uses a replaceable activated carbon capsule to reduce bad taste, chlorine and organic chemical matter for up to 100 liters (264 gallons) and an advanced hollow fiber membrane technology (0.2 microns) to remove waterborne bacteria and protozoa up to 1,000 liters. That’s a lot of water, but don’t worry, you don’t need to keep track. The Go automatically clogs it’s self when the filter needs to be replaced. If you like the gear we’re reppin’, or what we’re wearing, check out some of the sponsors that make this tour possible: La Sportiva, National Geographic, and LifeStrawlast_img read more

Tag: 夜上海论坛OA Claudio Ranieri tells his players: ‘If you keep clean sheet, I’ll buy pizza’

first_img But goals from Ritchie De Laet, whose effort was given with the aid of goal-line technology, Jamie Vardy and substitute Nathan Dyer, who bravely headed a 89th-minute winner on his debut, saw Leicester snatch three points and climb up to second place in the table. “Coming back from behind might be exciting, but it is not good. Three times we go down, that is not good,” said Ranieri, whose team travel to Stoke on Saturday. “I would prefer to get in front and stay there than have to keep giving ourselves a problem. That is clear. “But of course my knowledge is important. It is also important to say, ‘Hey, be careful – three times down is not so good’. “We have to be careful. My players have been incredible but I have warned them they can’t continue to give teams a start because one day you will get punished. “There is a very good spirit. They are characters. But I’m very curious – I want to see what they are like when something goes wrong. “Every man can go to the ground, but I want to see when they pick themselves up. That is my focus.” Ranieri then joked that perhaps bribing his players with the promise of food might be the recipe to success as regards not conceding goals. Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has praised his side for their fighting spirit – but warned they must stop falling behind in matches. Ranieri’s team have conceded the first goal in each of their last three Barclays Premier League fixtures, but have come back every time to maintain their unbeaten start to the season – none more dramatically than last weekend’s 3-2 victory against Aston Villa. The Foxes had looked like losing after wonderful curling efforts from Jack Grealish – his first goal for Villa – and Carles Gil put the visitors in the driving seat. The affable Italian said: ” I told them, if you keep a clean sheet, I’ll buy pizza for everybody. I think they’re waiting for me to offer a hot dog too!” In contrast to Leicester’s unbeaten start, Stoke are still looking for their first win of the season, losing three of their opening five games. Despite that, Ranieri knows it will be a stiff test for his side at the Britannia Stadium. “I am surprised because Stoke have very good quality players,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s the best moment to play Stoke. The future you don’t know. “Sooner or later they will start to play, but I hope after Saturday. “It is important for us to go there very concentrated and (keep) the feet on the ground. “The defeat is (around) the corner. You have to be very focused, concentrated and motivated.” Meanwhile, Dyer has been passed fit to be part of the Leicester squad that travels to the Potteries. The winger, on loan from Swansea, has received the all-clear from the club’s medical staff after suffering a heavy blow to the head in a collision with Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan as he headed the winning goal on his first Foxes appearance from the bench. “Nathan Dyer is okay and everyone is fine to play on Saturday,” Ranieri said. “At the moment there are no injuries.” Press Associationlast_img read more

Tag: 夜上海论坛OA Reggie Northrup rebounds from torn ACL to lead FSU in tackles

first_img Facebook Twitter Google+ Published on October 28, 2015 at 8:41 pm Contact Michael: [email protected] Reggie Northrup immediately felt a “sharp and aching” pain in his left knee. He didn’t yell, scream or cry, but he feared the worst.“I just grabbed my knee and I was like, ‘Something’s wrong,’” he said. “It was my first real injury.”Northrup suffered what turned out to be a torn ACL in the fourth quarter of Florida State’s 59-20 loss to Oregon in the Rose Bowl Game on Jan. 1. But he recovered quickly and was back with the team by the middle of the summer.Through seven games this season, the middle linebacker leads the Seminoles (6-1, 4-1 Atlantic Coast) in tackles. Northrup and FSU will host Syracuse (3-4, 1-2) on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.Immediately after his surgery, Northrup had a moment of uncertainty. He questioned whether he’d ever be the same player.AdvertisementThis is placeholder text“But that was probably the only time I had any doubt,” he said. “ … I was motivated. I didn’t want to go out like that.”The very next day, he began rehabbing the knee and a rigorous process began. Time that Northrup would typically spend sleeping or enjoying free time became hours of rehab. It included a number of daily strength exercises, such as calf presses, leg presses and squats. He’d also take on different hydrotherapy exercises in FSU’s training pool and regularly received treatment from the Seminoles’ team trainers.“He’s a guy who worked very diligently in his rehab,” Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said on Wednesday’s ACC Coaches’ Teleconference. “He didn’t miss a day. Sometimes he was doing multiple rehab sessions per day.”When he wasn’t busy rehabbing in those early months, Northrup did a lot of “sitting around,” while he knew his teammates were somewhere doing normal workouts.“I hated it,” he said. “It drove me crazy, man. That’s why I just put the effort in and didn’t cut any corners.”Within five months after he sustained the injury, he was back on the field participating in summer workouts. According to emoryhealthcare.org, it typically takes athletes between six and nine months before they can return to their respective sports following ACL reconstructive surgery.Northrup was eased back into the action upon his return. During training camp, he practiced every other day and had to be careful not to push himself too hard, which he said was difficult for him. He wanted to play at his normal pace, but knew he couldn’t.When the regular season began, Northrup said it took him a few games to get back to full speed and stop thinking about his knee. He played hesitantly, and in the Seminoles’ three games to start the season, he recorded a total of only 16 tackles. But starting with FSU’s Week 4 game at Wake Forest, Northrup turned a corner and began to feel like his old self. In that game, he had a season-high 10 tackles. His speed, strength and explosiveness were much closer to normal, he said. Now, a little more than halfway through Florida State’s regular season, Northrup has 43 tackles — the most on the team. But he’s still averaging about two fewer tackles per game this season and after registering four tackles for loss last season, he’s yet to get one in 2015.With time, Northrup said he hopes to continue making progress. Before the end of this season, his goal is to get rid of his current knee brace and replace it with a smaller one that hinders him less, another step in returning to his former self.“I’m just getting stronger and stronger,” Northrup said. “I’m coming along good.” Commentslast_img read more
