first_imgGovernor, First Lady Wolf Visit Israel First Lady Frances Wolf,  Press Release Governor Tom Wolf and First Lady Frances Wolf returned today from a trip to Israel. At the end of their personal trip, they represented Pennsylvania during three days of civic, business and cultural exchange programs that helped strengthen international relationships and boost economic development. They were joined by Jewish stakeholders from throughout Pennsylvania.“Israel is an important economic partner for Pennsylvania, and meeting with civic, industry and business leaders could help bolster ties between our countries,” said Gov. Wolf. “This trip was also an opportunity to reflect on our existing connections and identify potential new ventures and partnerships that will benefit Israelis and Pennsylvanians alike.”The Wolfs toured Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust Memorial and Museum, and participated in a wreath laying ceremony. Later that day, Gov. Wolf planted a tree at the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Memorial, located at the 9/11 Living Memorial Plaza, as a way of continuing to honor and remember the 11 victims who were killed during the anti-Semitic shooting.Additionally, while at the Mount Herzl National Cemetery, the Wolfs visited the grave of Michael Levin OBM, a Bucks County native who served as a paratrooper in the Israeli army. Levin, the grandson of Holocaust survivors, was killed at age 22 while fighting in the Second Lebanon War in 2006.Their trip also included a meeting with the Israeli Innovation Authority to learn about how Israel has grown its tech economy; headlining a program at Google Tel Aviv to promote increased Israeli investment in the commonwealth; participating in a summit at Sheba Medical Center to learn how Pennsylvania can emulate the healthcare business innovation spinning out of one of the world’s leading hospitals; and, reaching out to food tech companies at Technion, a top Israeli university, to create opportunities for Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry while discussing collaborative efforts on technology development and commercialization with the President of Technion.
